Lawson Chase is on the hunt for a Senior Solvency II & Data Acquisition Analyst on behalf of a global financial services firm.


About The Role

This role is based within the company’s Investment Reporting & Performance function based in London, who support a range of services including performance, attribution, portfolio structure reporting, ex-ante risk and solvency II reporting.

The primary purpose of the role is to be responsible for Solvency II and other data reporting services services for the company’s flagship UK insurance client. The role requires you to provide production oversight of a team based in Chennai and local client facing support to the client, effectively acting as an intermediary between both. You will provide production support and develop quality assurance control processes on the reports produced utilising your experience of financial instruments, market data analytics, and subject matter experience.

You will work within a dedicated client facing service delivery team in London which in time will provide a platform for you to grow and develop your career and experience across different investment reporting and performance subjects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a London based client relationship contact on Solvency II service delivery for a flagship UK clients, agreeing and negotiating service delivery deadlines

  • Oversee the Solvency II service delivery activities offshored to the company’s office in Chennai, ensuring the service experience of the client is of a high standard of timeliness and quality

  • Undertake an allocation of the data acquisition/enrichment, calculation and reporting production tasks required to support Solvency II clients, including ensuring a strong quality control element

  • Act as coordinator for issues and the accurate organisation of any re-issues

  • Oversee queries and rejections, taking responsibility for the accurate and prompt resolution

  • Ensure that quarterly MI is completed on Chennai service performance, ensuring it is accurate and a true reflection of the service delivery achieved

  • Undertake a regular and ongoing review of the end to end production process and seek to re-engineer and optimise operations.

  • Help facilitate new client on-boarding events working with the IRP UK Projects team, IRP Paris based implementation team, IRP Paris Market Data team, and IRP Chennai Solvency II team

  • Develop and maintain a full appreciation of the performance measurement service and other services provided by IRP overall, understanding its impact and relevance to the Investment Reporting process, and contribute to those activity as the department requires



  • Ensure the service level delivered by their team meets company standards and client requirements

  • Participate in Client Service management meetings and promote the business culture amongst colleagues

  • Be sales focused and look for opportunities to promote new products and services to clients



  • Work with Chennai management team to ensure that analysts are appropriately trained in order to carry out the workload assigned to them

  • Ensure that monitoring and co-ordination exists within the team and appropriate escalation of issues to management is in place

  • Hold regular meetings to ensure effective communication and feedback is in place with offshore location. You will have a counterpart in Chennai to help co-ordinate.

  • Actively promote and be involved in innovation, product development and process change within the teams


Client focus:

  • Monitoring clients KPI's and ensure these are being met

  • Help manage relationship with the client. Ensure meetings are held with the client to ensure that the service level required is being achieved

  • Develop the service level being provided to the client

  • Continue to improve the service delivery experience of the client


  • Develop / maintain technical expertise on Solvency II to help provided high quality client support


Specific production oversight responsibilities in relation to Solvency II

  • Oversight of Data Acquisition, Data Enrichment, SCR calculation & validation, and (e.g. Tri-Partite template, QRTs D1 , D4 etc)

  • Production process review re-engineering

  • New business on-boarding


Business responsibilities:

  • Working to deliver services to clients accurately and on time, thus reinforcing and building client relationship, leading to new business opportunities

  • Working to ensure operational risk is captured and addressed, securing functional capabilities


Skills & Experience


  • A background working within an Investment, Client Reporting, or Data Administration function within either an Asset Management, Insurance or Third Party Administrator firm.

  • Experience to handling large scale data transfer processes including familiarity with data acquisition tools and insights into best practice, working within or in support of the asset management industry or the insurance industry

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Solvency II regulations, data requirements, SCR calculation processes



  • Experience working as in a supervisory role, overseeing either a team of people or a service delivery process

  • Experience in an external client facing relationship management position (e.g. Client Service Management, Client Service Associate)



System / application skills:

  • Essential: Excel, Powerpoint, Word

  • Desirable but not essential: VBA, Datastream, Bloomberg, Factset

  • User level knowledge of all company IRP production applications (new joiners to be trained)


Project skills:

  • Practical experience on boarding new activity into a production process

  • Practical experience writing business specification documents, writing and undertaking test plans, implementation plans and governance documents

  • Strong deadline orientated approach to project delivery


Relationship Management skills

  • Proven track record building strong connections with new and existing clients

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to exercise good judgment in commitments made in response to client needs whilst balancing with the commercial and operational needs of the bank



  • Essential: IAQ, IMC or relevant BA / BSc degree or equivalent

  • Desirable but not essential: MA / MSc, CIFA, CIPM
