Job Description

Senior Programme Assistant sought to join a global risk management consultancy, based in the firm’s Dubai offices.

The Role

The firm, a leading risk management consultancy, is seeking a motivated individual for a senior programme associate position within the Government Services practice based in Dubai.

The practice focuses on the design, management, and implementation of programmes related to security sector development; military and police training; borders; anti-corruption; and other stabilisation initiatives. The firm alsos conducts Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) work around ongoing initiatives, both internally and as a third party.

The senior programme associate will be part of a dynamic, multinational, and highly collaborative team. There is considerable scope for creative thinking and brainstorming and the senior programme associate will be encouraged to develop his or her own ideas. In addition, the senior programme associate will identify his or her training needs and will be given the opportunity to participate in workshops and training sessions.

As a senior programme associate, the successful candidate, working in the Government Services team responsible for concept development and project design, would undertake a diverse array of tasks within the practice, including research and development of concepts, both independently and in response to requests for proposal; bid writing for government tenders; engaging with donor funding mechanisms; liaising with partners and stakeholders from government and the wider field; networking with functional and regional experts; and other tasks as mandated by practice management. The candidate may also be required to play a project management role, often with tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

A successful candidate for this position will have a minimum of three years experience in the fields of programme management/design related to conflict & stability, international development, or security consulting. A familiarity with the US and/or UK international development space would be highly valuable. The candidate must possess strong writing skills, and a background in project development is preferred. Candidates with MEL experience are also highly desirable. The role will from time to time involve working beyond normal office hours and the successful candidate will be willing and able to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice.

Native-level fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Expertise in Africa or the Middle East – in addition to fluency in French, Arabic, or Portuguese – is highly desirable.
