Job Description

The position sits within the Due Diligence subgroup, a global team based in Barcelona, Princeton and Singapore, which is responsible for researching/writing and reviewing/proofing of high-quality reports on companies and/or individuals using a combination of publically-available and proprietary sources.

 

The company is composed of teams who:

  • Research and write high-quality Due Diligence reports on companies and/or individuals;

  • Write targeted queries and hand select the most relevant news for My Company Today newsletters

  • Provide one-off reports where entities and/or individuals are screened against negative references in the news

  • Support WSJ Pro offerings via research and original writing on cybersecurity and other topics

 

The Senior Manager, under minimal supervision, plays a key role in the continuing market success of  the Due Diligence team and is responsible for managing a Due Diligence team in Princeton. The Due Diligence team is responsible for researching/writing and reviewing/proofing of high-quality reports on companies and/or individuals using a combination of publically available and proprietary sources. The Senior Manager  for Due Diligence works closely with his/her peers to ensure that we improve the team’s policies, workflows and quality standards for DD reports, procedures and metrics for measuring success. The Senior Manager also is required to provide training/mentoring and leadership to his/her direct reports as well as to other Data Strategy research teams when necessary, and ensure that targets and deadlines are met.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Regional oversight of the Americas Due Diligence team, composed of research editors and quality analysts

  • Provide direct supervision to 3 managers teams, including coaching and mentoring, to ensure team engagement and operational success

  • Lead, in a collaborative environment, a highly dedicated team to achieve Dow Jones’s output/quality/timeliness targets. Duties include building the team, defining goals and developmental directions, identifying and implementing coaching needs for staff.

  • Ensure that the team is fully trained and delivers high level quality reports.

  • Allocate country research responsibilities across the teams to deliver the most comprehensive, accurate, up-to-date and thorough coverage possible to meet client expectations.

  • Promote the research, proofing and reviewing process internally and externally and support Risk and Compliance Solutions Sales Specialists in prospecting and selling the service.

  • Ensure that clients receive clear, responsive communication to queries relating to the Dow Jones research, reviewing, proofing and editing process and its content.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in the field of Due Diligence desirable.

  • 2-3 years of people management experience preferred

  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to summarize complex information clearly and precisely from another language into English.

  • Strong editing, proofreading, research skills, including online search tools. Tenacity and ingenuity in the pursuit of sources and information.

  • Knowledge of public records/litigation records desirable.

  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a multicultural team, to build and maintain good working relationships

  • Ability to adapt readily to changing customer requirements, positive outlook on change, self-motivated and flexible.

  • Ability to train/mentor researchers and quality analysts to greater success.
