Job Description

Lawson Chase is working closely with an internationally known firm specialising in eDiscovery, Forensics, Investigations and professional services. They are seeking to appoint a Senior Director of Investigations & Disputes to join the Singapore offices.


About The Role

The firm’s Investigations & Disputes ("I&D") practice is world-renowned for their trusted experts, global resources, local insight, and actionable results. Clients have entrusted us with assisting them to resolve some of their most difficult and business critical challenges.

The firm’s investigative services include financial, internal, and regulatory investigations, asset searches, brand protection, forensic accounting, dispute advisory services, litigation support, business intelligence, proxy contests, intellectual property infringement and product counterfeiting, and regulatory or court-ordered monitorships.

The I&D practice is staffed with a multidisciplinary team of professionals which include former prosecutors, law enforcement officers and journalists, as well as certified public and forensic accountants, data analytics experts, and certified fraud examiners.

As Senior Director, you will report to the Principal, and be responsible for conducting fraud investigations supported by more wide-ranging investigations in order to bring a cost effective and commercial solution to issues affecting clients around the globe.

You will be responsible for developing, producing, and supporting the investigative case work, dealing with clients and managing complex jurisdictional assignments. Additionally, this role will be responsible for contributing to the on-going development and growth of the Singapore office.

A deep understanding of the case and client needs is key to ensuring overall effective and financially viable case management.

The role requires a high level of organisational ability, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to think strategically and be commercially focused, an analytical mind and an ability to build relationships. The ideal candidate would have a "think outside of the box" approach.


Key Responsibilities

  • Development and management of projects, throughout the life of the engagement: meeting with client to discuss needs, preparation of proposals, agreement of engagement, development of working plan and budget, allocation of resources, direction of project team members, delivery and quality assurance and project invoicing

  • Act as client contact throughout projects and contribute to management of the client relationship

  • Keeps Managing Director and Case Managers informed of progress on regular basis, brings issues and findings to attention of appropriate personnel for resolution and decision making

  • Exercise good judgment, demonstrate innovation and adapt working strategy based on results obtained

  • Providing Business Development support to MDs and AMDs

  • Take ownership of project and deliverables and manage workflow and costs effectively

  • Monitors quality of own work product and conducts follow-up as appropriate

  • Ensure ethical conduct, quality of services, use of best practices and compliance with policy and SOPs in each project

  • Provide expert, reliable and robust analysis of complex situations and data for clients

  • Identify project risks and effectively manage them

  • Addresses field investigation and related complications as they arise

  • Contribute to the professional development and evaluation of junior project team members, encourage behavior transformation

  • Demonstrate excellent judgment, be commercially-focused and be driven by professional excellence and a commitment to the company brand.


Skills & Experience

  • Chartered or qualified accountant (i.e. CPA, ACCA or equivalent)

  • 8+ years of professional service leadership including expertise in the areas of investigation, reputational due diligence, and forensic services

  • Proven experience of delivering Business Development in a professional services environment

  • Prior experience in Risk Assessment and Forensic Accounting

  • Demonstrate exemplary written and oral communication skills

  • Has successfully worked with C-Level executives

  • Experienced in contract preparation, review and execution

  • Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to establish trust and credibility across the organization

  • Strong ability to influence across multiple business lines

  • Must be flexible, enthusiastic and possess good human relations skills.

  • Must be able to think independently and make sound decisions.

  • Must be proficient in MS office products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Management.

  • Knowledge of Data Analytics, Data mining and e-discovery tools would be a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (listening, verbal, written presentation)

  • Display ability to communicate effectively particularly with external clients and internal colleagues demonstrating the ability to reach the desired project outcome.

  • Willingness to travel at least 50%

  • BA/BS required, advanced degree preferred.

  • Fluent in English and Mandarin - (additional languages Thai and/or Bahasa would be ideal)


A key interest in business strategy, global events and markets, with an awareness of working across different cultural and political environments is essential due to the range of cases that will be handled across various industry-sectors.
