Our client, a London based Investment Management firm is looking to appoint a Senior Client Relationship Manager to join their London team.


About The Role

The role involves managing relationships with the company’s asset management clients. The focus of the Senior Manager is to build strong client relationships, working alongside colleagues to deliver investment management and implementation services. In addition, associates will be required to support the sales team in winning new business. The Senior Manager will both lead on clients and support senior members of the team on large strategic clients and interacting with other departments to provide delivery of a suite of complementary services. Ultimately the position is expected to contribute to client retention and the evolution of the asset management proposition in the UK & ME team, both in terms of winning clients and enhancing the current service we deliver to clients.


Key Responsibilities

Client Retention

  • Actively communicate with asset management clients regarding company relationship, including attending client meetings (which may involve travelling to meeting locations).

  • Seek to maintain high levels of satisfaction with the company’s services and address issues promptly.

  • Engage in regular dialogue to ensure positive and productive client interaction encompassing new ideas where appropriate.


Business development

  • Develop new business across the company’s services from existing clients.

  • Support the efforts across the UK & ME group to protect revenue and grow the business across a range of services.


Business Strategy

  • Client strategy and business planning to retain and build new revenue

  • Lead and assist on project work to further develop business opportunities

Team Strategy

  • Assist the head of relationship management with team management, strategy and recruitment


Team development

  • Develop the junior team members

  • Act as a mentor to junior member of the team


Key Stakeholders

External Clients

  • Head of relationship management

  • Head of UKI and Middle East


Skills & Experience

  • Minimum qualifications

    • University undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification / equivalent experience

    • Other formal professional and / or technical qualifications / equivalent experience. CFA Charterholders will be preferred.

  • Minimum experience

    •  Experience in the financial services/investment

    • industry of which the majority of the experience will be in UK Pension Fund industry.

    • Experience with managing clients.

    • (Exceptional candidates with slightly less experience


In addition to;

  •  A close working knowledge of the practical needs and experiences of pensions, present and future, of the UK institutional marketplace.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of all major asset classes, with the ability to articulate investment processes knowledgeably and credibly.

  • Commitment to professional excellence and capable of exercising professional judgement.

  • A high degree of self-motivation is crucial, as is the ability to make an immediate impact both internally and externally.

  • The ability to communicate effectively and knowledgeably with both colleagues and prospective clients.

  • The depth, maturity and experience to use and adapt his/her influencing style to a diversity of internal and external audiences.

  • A naturally courteous and professional approach.

  • Ability to work under pressure, both within a team and working independently.

  • Experience in a consulting firm or investment manager, developing and delivering strategy proposals for clients.

  • This experience should include a track record of working with institutional clients and understanding their practical needs and challenges.

  • Strong drive, energy and determination to meet client needs, and extend client interaction and levels of engagement.

  • At least 6 years relevant experience.
