Job Description

The Role

As a team the Investment Office (IO) act as the executive function of the Board Investment Committee. The IO defines and oversees the Group investment philosophy, develops and reviews the Group’s investment strategy within the risk appetite, oversees asset manager performance and operations for all Group investment funds, as well as delivering all Group Treasury and Unit Linked Governance responsibilities. 

As Responsible Investment Manager, you will be working with leading companies in a fast growing and highly visible area of investments.

You will deliver / design the analysis, oversight and lead the integration of the Responsible Investment (RI) and Climate Change (CC) policy frameworks and activities on behalf of customers. You will also provide specialist expertise on ESG issues and delivers due diligence across internal and external asset managers with particular focus on engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities

As per role profile

  • RI subject matter expertise and disclosure reporting

  • Lead oversight and reporting against integration of RI and CC framework across all relevant processes and due diligence across the Group’s assets

  • Lead oversight of the Group’s voting policy and process with fund managers with a focus on analysis and reporting of activities

  • Pro-actively works with all relevant internal stakeholders and asset managers to support effective RI integration to relevant processes.    

  • Lead activity to engage with asset managers – individually or through collaboration – on relevant Group RI issues.

  • Contribute and coordinate RI thought leadership activities across the Group

  • Pro-actively develops and improves the Group’s RI and CC framework, including any rating methodologies or assessment tools

  • Maintain strong awareness of RI and CC industry developments

  • Working to supports Group’s investment governance model by ensuring regular reporting and MI and papers are produced for committees 

  • Leads the maintenance and review the RI and Climate Change investment risks and controls

  • Support senior leaders in implementing and embedding RI and Climate Change

 

Skills & Experience

  • Educated to degree level with IMC qualification or similar equivalent 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in RI 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Deep understanding of current and developing RI trends with good understanding of regulatory aspects 

  • Proven ability to design and implement oversight frameworks

  • Deep understanding of RI marketplace with direct experience of investment management and oversight preferable

  • Deep understanding of RI customer insight / outcomes
