Job Description

The Role

The Responsible Investment team is a small team that sits within the in-house investment team. It has the primary purpose of developing and managing the scheme’s approach. The in-house investment team is likely to grow significantly over the coming years with the vision of becoming one of the biggest pension schemes in the UK in the next 10 years.

The successful candidates will report to the Head of Responsible Investment and will work closely with our other members of the investment team. The role is needed to assist with the increasing workload of the RI team as our assets grow and the number of investment mandates increase.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Excellent understanding of ESG issues, proxy voting and general responsible investment in the UK. It will be a mix of practical & academic experience

  • Broad range of investment knowledge and experience

  • Strong IT knowledge and capability particularly at Excel

  • Experience of using Bloomberg as well as ESG Research databases such as Sustain Analytics

  • Quantitative portfolio analysis skills and experience

  • Analyse and evaluate company annual reports

  • Engage with senior executives and board members on ESG matters

  • Effective data analysis and deliver research reports under time constraints

 

Desirable

  • Investment experience

  • Professional investment qualifications desirable

  • 3 years + ideal in Responsible Investment field

 

Person Specification

  • Analytical thinking, ability to draw useful conclusions from potentially large datasets

  • Possess excellent skills required to effectively communicate with the investment partners, colleagues, external stakeholders at conferences

  • Strong numerical, written and verbal communication skills

  • Initiative and ability to solve problems

  • Teamwork to solve problems

  • Proactive learner

  • Established contacts with RI organisations and networks
