About The Role

The purpose of this role is to provide independent oversight of the assessment of risk across the initial stages of product lifecycles covering both liquid and illiquid markets, from applied research stage through to product implementation. The assessment of risk includes conduct, operational, regulatory and investment risks.

The role holder will work closely with colleagues across Product, Investment Governance & Oversight, and Risk & Compliance to ensure robust product development processes and outcomes which best support client objectives.

The role holder will also work closely with Regional Compliance teams (UK, EMEA ex-UK, US & APAC) to ensure appropriate coverage and escalation of regulatory issues, escalating material issues where they arise.

This role may be suited to an ambitious candidate with either public or private markets asset class experience, who is keen to gain a broader awareness of the key risks underpinning product developments. The role holder will be provided with appropriate training and support as required.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Challenge and support the new product process to ensure robust product development outcomes

  • Provide analysis and organisation of key information required to assess the risk performance of new investment products.

  • Working with key stakeholders across first- and second-line functions to ensure that there are appropriate controls in place for the management of investment risk across new products

  • Tracking issues of concern which may be escalated internally and/or tabled on the agendas of subcommittees of the Enterprise Risk Management Committee so that they can be addressed in a timely and effective manner

  • Duties might include leading small working groups to address certain issues, and advising the Group CRO on product matters either in person or written form.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree

  • Experience in the asset management industry

  • Strong knowledge in either Private Markets and Real Estate, or equity, fixed income, credit and derivatives

  • Strong communicator able to communicate confidently and concisely to all levels and proactively seek information from other areas of the business.

  • Adept at distilling the key points of relevance from a variety of more complex information.

Desirable but not essential;

  • Good project management skills

  • IMC/CFA/PRM would be advantageous
