Job Description

Performance Analyst sought to join an independent investment management firm, based in London.

 

About The Role

To collect, calculate and analyse investment performance data working with internal groups (operations, portfolio/product management, marketing, compliance, management) and external groups (clients, prospects, consultants). The individual will have an understanding of the investment management industry, performance measurement and variables impacting returns so as to calculate and verify accurate portfolio and benchmark performance results.  The end result of all is to ensure performance data is provided in a timely, complete and accurate manner to both internal and external clients.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Calculate and produce accurate performance data and reporting as required for retail and/or institutional portfolios to agreed timelines; prepare reports to Fund Management, Sales & Marketing, Institutional Support, and other performance and risk team members.  

  • Prepare attribution/contribution reports used in the analysis of performance or reporting to internal and external clients.

  • Maintain systems and databases to ensure the accuracy and integrity of static and time series data for assigned portfolios, benchmarks, or other information; must develop an understanding of performance calculations in all relevant performance software (existing/new) and its application and calculate manually if needed.  

  • Prepare reports or analysis and respond to inquiries, on both a recurring and ad hoc basis for internal and external clients.

  • Ensure performance data has been represented in a complete and accurate manner within senior management reports, third-party databases and sales materials.

  • Support senior members of team with special projects and process improvements / efficiencies.

  • Contribute ideas on how to continue to improve processes, procedures and controls within the team.

  • Assist in the construction and maintenance of composites in compliance with GIPS for assigned portfolios / strategies; assist in compiling data and documentation for the annual firm-wide verification of compliance with GIPS; learn fundamental principles of GIPS and implications relative to role.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Would typically have 1 to 3 years of experience in the investment management industry.

  • Must demonstrate knowledge of performance measurement and related rules and regulations surrounding the securities industry

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, Statistics or a related field

  • It is also necessary to understand industry regulations governing the investment management industry and related compliance procedures

  • Must possess a high aptitude of analytical and mathematical skills which are required for calculating, reviewing and disseminating performance information.

  • A methodical approach to work and keen attention to detail essential

  • Must show the ability to meet deadlines, establish priorities and concentrate on detailed information sometimes under stressful conditions

  • Must show superior customer service by generating and responding to client requests in a timely manner as well have the interpersonal skills to interactive with both internal and external clients

  • Able to communicate effectively both written and orally

  • Proficient in the use of third-party financial industry databases and Microsoft Office

  • The ability to cooperate in a team environment is also critical
