Job Description

Role Purpose

  • The MLRO directly reports to executive management. The MLRO has adequate oversight of all high-risk relationships.

  • The MLRO keeps copies of, or references to, the evidence of the customer’s identity for five years after the business relationship ends; and transaction documents for five years after the transaction is made


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the firm maintains its FCA licence to do business.

  • Ensure that suitable senior managers are identified and registered with the FCA.

  • Act as the main point of contact with the Regulator (and any other applicable bodies) either through correspondence or in the event of any regulatory inspection to assist with any such undertaking

  • Ensure that all relevant staff is aware of their corporate and personal regulatory obligations.

  • Oversee company’s AML compliance programme.

  • Coordinate company’s day-to-day compliance.

  • Ensure that all received internal suspicious activity reports are investigated without delay and the necessary actions are taken.

  • Determine whether or not suspicions have substance and require disclosure to the relevant law enforcement agencies.

  • Develop and coordinate plans to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Maintain the compliance library, policy and produces manuals, and training schedule for all employees.

  • Maintain various regulatory registers such as breach/complaint registers etc.

  • Maintain, and improve where required, the Compliance Monitoring Programme and Business Risk Assessment, and report the results to the Board in a timely manner.

  • Prepare periodic reports to the management and the Board as required.

  • Develop and implement a detailed customer identification programme and know-your-customer programme.

  • Arrange AML training to ensure everyone in the business receives training which meets regulatory requirements.

  • Support AML induction training.

  • Maintain robust risk reviews.

  • Ensure that the Board is kept apprised of industry best practice and any such developments and changes in regulatory requirements/guidance and that internal procedures are developed /adapted as required.


Additional Information 

  • This Role is on a freelance basis, the potential to turn into a full-time position. 

  • The Role can be done anywhere in the UK.
