Job Description

Our client, a leading independent investment advisory firm is seeking to appoint a Manager / Director to lead engagement efforts from their London based office.


The Role

The Director will provide oversight of the issuer engagement programme for EMEA, working closely with the Ireland-based research and engagement team as well as institutional investor clients. This position reports into the VP of research, engagement and stewardship for EMEA.

This position has two distinct areas of responsibility: issuer engagement and investor stewardship.

  • Coordinate the issuer engagement programme with the research team, ensuring consistency and organisation in the UK, Europe and the Middle East and Africa

  • Work with institutional investor clients to facilitate ESG engagement and stewardship activities

  • Develop and execute strategies to scale engagement activities

  • Mentor research staff, providing regular feedback and training, to promote self-sufficiency

  • Lead engagement meetings in person, with a particular focus on London

  • Organise white paper research in coordination with lead analysts


Skills & Experience

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree

  • Native level fluency in English

  • Strong presentation skills, including comfort presenting to C-Suite and clients

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience for Director-level role, including 2-3 years in a related senior role

  • Excellent grasp of investor stewardship practices, including emerging best practices

  • Excellent understanding of global corporate governance, environmental and social issues and trends

  • Demonstrated capacity for innovation

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines

  • Ability to lead and mentor other team members

  • Ability to structure day-to-day work autonomously

  • Demonstrate a continuous improvement mind-set
