Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Legal, the primary responsibility of this role is to manage legal and regulatory issues in relation to client and intermediary agreements for company services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, advising on and enhancing client and intermediary agreements across the range of company services, including in relation to:

    • the scope of the company’s responsibilities, and the scope of relevant third parties’ responsibilities;

    • consumer contracts and unfair terms regulation;

    • service enhancements and proposition developments;

    • tax wrappers (e.g. SIPPs and offshore bonds), including agreements with third party providers;

    • third party managed products and services, including agreements with third party providers;

    • harmonising different standard terms documentation;

    • periodic reviews aimed at continuous improvement and compliance with regulatory developments;

    • notification of updates to clients and intermediaries, and associated requirements and procedures;

    • assisting with resolution of queries or issues.

  • Close regular liaison with Compliance as necessary.

  • Day to day support for client-facing teams on relevant queries.

  • Contributing to team know-how, particularly in relation to regulatory changes.

  • Effective management of external advisers where necessary.

  • Team support in relation to other legal advice requirements and agreements as required.

  • Other, as reasonably required by line manager.


Skills & Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: clear, concise, conveys key information tailored for the

  • relevant audience.

  • Accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail in order to maintain the highest levels of service.

  • Highly organised. Able to work effectively under demanding timescales and competing priorities.

  • Pragmatic in identification of issues and potential options and solutions.

  • Appetite for taking responsibility and seeing things through. Willing to take a leadership role where appropriate.

  • Highly literate in Microsoft packages.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience of key FCA regulatory considerations for company services.

  • Knowledge and experience of private client legal issues and relevant pensions, client money, tax and data

  • protection regulation would be desirable.

  • Good foundation of contract law knowledge and strong plain English drafting skills.


Education & Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor.


Additional Information

  • As part of a small Legal team, flexible attitude to duties as the role evolves in line with business requirements.

  • Experience in negotiating client-facing agreements, reporting to stakeholders on key risk areas and

  • counterparty positions, and providing suitable advice.
