Job Description

We are working with leading international financial and professional services provider in recruiting a Learning and Development Manager to work out of either their London or Birmingham offices.
 

About The Role

As part of a team of managers, you will lead the development, facilitation and deployment of “World Class Learning” to the UK & Ireland region (“UK&I) in line with the UK&I Learning Deployment operating model.

As a Learning & Development Manager, you are expected to have deep functional expertise in L&D and to generate high levels of employee engagement through your communication, behaviours and actions.   
 

Key Responsibilities

The role focus is non-technical learning delivered to all client groups in UK & Ireland, including: 

  • Leadership & Organisational Development, including high potential leadership development programmes

  • Digital Innovation & Digital Learning Deployment (Blended Learning Solutions)

  • Coaching programmes

  • Soft/Personal Skills Development

  • Business Development, Sales & Pursuits Skills Development

  • This role will also to contribute to activities, facilitation and projects across the wider UK&I Talent

  • You will:

  • Work with stakeholders including the Talent Development Team Leader to identify priority learning needs, formulate Talent Development strategy and allocate learning budgets.

  • Support World Class Learning through the design and development of Global and Regional (i.e. UK and Ireland) learning material for classroom and virtual delivery

  • Facilitate EMEIA and Regional learning events

  • Work with UK&I Talent Development Team Leader and course managers to ensure high quality deployment of learning in line with the UK&I deployment model.  Generate quality deliverables that are leveraged as leading practice by groups outside of their own.  

  • Programme manage a curriculum of courses, or course manage specific complex courses, with responsibility for the overall UK&I strategy of delivery and deployment of that programme or course

  • Lead on the strategic evaluation of return on investment of learning delivered by team and implement appropriate changes in order to maximise the performance development culture within the practice.  Assume key leadership role in continual process improvement projects that positively impacts the team and our service delivery.

  • Be responsible for building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships with the business, directly within the service lines and recognising the multiple perspectives they may have.  For example, with EMEIA and Global Learning teams, Resourcing, Operations, Learning Champions, Q&RM/PPD, Subject Matter Experts, People Leaders or External learning providers

  • Actively drive in the business and act as an adviser to the business on all aspects of learning, experiences and coaching.  This may include leading and/or contributing to the Learning initiatives across the UK&I region and globally. 

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the UK&I Learning Deployment Operating Model and ensure it is applied consistently

  • Provide leadership and build motivation within the team, acting as a role model, particularly during periods of change.

  • Line manage, coach and support the Talent Development Learning Consultants and Learning Coordinators to increase deliver strong performance standards and to enhance knowledge, skills and competence within their roles

  • Be responsible for the operational line management of Senior Learning Consultants, Learning Consultants and Learning Coordinators (working with the Senior Learning Consultant), including portfolio planning and management of direct reports

  • Drive our people priorities through the counselling of Learning Consultants. 

  • Support the recruitment and induction of Learning Consultants

  • Support the UK&I Talent Development function by undertaking other operational activities, for example, management of the GSS relationship, broader Finance activities and budgetary responsibilities, and management of external suppliers etc.  Proactively identify and lead opportunities to connect with various clients across SL’s and the wider talent development team.  

  • Manage internal communications, branding and marketing for your client group.  Proactively use professional network to identify and/or support our business needs (internal and external). 

  • Enhance and protect Talent Development reputation by using in-depth knowledge of Talent and Learning to identify key issues and recommending innovative options to leadership.

  • To qualify for the role you must have

  • Clear functional expertise and experience across the L&D and Talent Management spectrum.

  • Experience in learning deployment, coordination, coaching, counselling and managing the day to day activities of direct reports.

  • A background and experience in complex project management, ideally within a professional services firm.

  • A track record of maintaining strong business relationships.

  • A desire to embrace and drive change whilst identifying and implementing process improvements and demonstrating best practice.

  • Excellent  people management, coaching and interpersonal skills with an ability to manage difficult conversations

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • The ability to juggle conflicting demands on time and prioritise effectively

  • Skills as a proactive problem solver and creative thinker

  • The ability to interact well with people at all levels within the firm (from Partner down)

  • Be a strong team player with an enthusiastic, can do approach

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong IT skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint
