Job Description

We are seeking an experienced strategic intelligence practitioner to fill a newly created position in our client's London office, reporting directly to the Head of Political & Security Risk.

About The Company

Headquartered in London and offering a wide range of strategic intelligence services including Pre-Market Entry assessments, Political Intelligence in Commercial Contexts and Political and/or Security Risk Assessments. We have an extensive, multinational client base largely comprising blue chip companies.

About The Role

The practitioner will be involved in various processes including drafting proposals, leading the writing and editing of reports, conducting desktop research, identifying, tasking and managing sources, and briefing clients. The role will also involve editing parts of off-the- shelf political and security risk services and bespoke client briefings. Client engagement, including supporting the sales process, will be a key aspect of this position.

The practitioner will work on cases across a variety of issues and regions and will report directly to the Head, Political & Security Risk while also liaising with other members of the team, including managing analysts and researchers as needed.

Key Requirements

  • Solid experience of conducting relevant projects on a range of political and security issues, with the ability to manage complex cases without supervision.

  • Ability to write and edit reports to a very high standard.

  • Ability to manage and train junior analysts and researchers.

  • Extensive knowledge of global risk and security issues, ideally with a focus on the Middle East.

Additional Requirements

  • Work experience: at least five years’ work experience in this field (whether as a core focus or as a secondary responsibility).

  • To be able to write clearly, simply, imaginatively and compellingly.

  • Editing: extensive editorial experience.

  • Commercial awareness: the ability to determine what matters to clients, both in terms of identifying business opportunities and selecting relevant material for reports.

  • Analytical thinking: the ability to process a large volume of information quickly, to draw key points from the material and to produce intelligent analysis. This also means setting findings in context and drawing out implications for the client.

  • Strong interpersonal skills: the role will involve liaising closely with the business development team and other analysts, communicating with sources and dealing directly with clients.

  • Flexibility and self-motivation: able to work independently and in a team and to identify business leads and pursue opportunities.

  • A good degree. This should be in an Arts subject, and a Masters is preferred.

  • An additional language and experience of living/working overseas is strongly desirable.
