We are recruiting on behalf of a leading asset management firm who are looking currently looking to hire an Investment Risk Oversight Manager.

 

About The Role

The purpose of the role is to implement the risk management framework across the firm’s Private Markets & Real Estate products. The scope of the role includes oversight of risks across all stages of the product lifecycle within Private Markets & Real Estate funds which may include the following asset classes; Real Estate, Private Equity, Infrastructure, Real Assets, Fund Financing & Strategic Credit and Private Markets Solutions funds.

A core objective of the role is to analyse, identify, challenge, escalate and report all portfolio-level investment risk and performance issues appropriately ensuring funds are managed in line with any client, regulatory and / or in-house limits. The role holder will work with the investment teams, Fund Governance and client directors to ensure an appropriate risk framework is developed for each fund, including identification of KRIs and risk limits. The role holder will be expected to perform in-depth analysis and provide reporting to the relevant committees and boards. Where risks / issues are identified the role holder will be expected to challenge, escalate and track to resolution whilst supporting and providing advice, where necessary, to the first line teams in addressing them.

The role will also involve working with Product Risk Oversight to ensure coverage of proposed new product launches, assessing whether all relevant risks are appropriately documented and addressed.

In addition the role holder will provide independent challenge and advice in relation to the assessment of emerging risks within the range of Private Markets and Real Estate funds being managed by the firm.

The role may also involve mentoring / directing analysts on day-to-day tasks within the team.

The role is in the Investment Risk Oversight team within Risk & Compliance. The role holder will report to the senior Investment Risk Oversight Manager responsible for Private Markets & Real Estate.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the investment teams and Fund Governance to ensure clarity of fund objective and strategy and that strong tripartite agreements are in place, underpinning the investment risk management framework across the Private Markets and Real Estate funds

  • Collate all relevant KRI information in order to provide in depth quantitative and qualitative analysis across all funds in scope

  • Provide robust oversight and challenge in the identification of all risk issues, tracking to resolution

  • Provide detailed reporting of fund level risks where appropriate

  • Provide summary level reporting across product sets to all relevant committees and boards

  • Build strong trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including the investment teams, Fund Governance, Product Development & Investment Oversight

  • Provide detailed risk reporting to first line teams to support their assessment of risk, performance and investment process

  • Regular engagement/collaboration with Product Risk Oversight to support new product developments

 

Skills & Experience

  • Good undergraduate degree

  • Relevant professional qualifications - IMC/CFA/ FRM/PRM advantageous

  • Experience in the asset management industry, ideally in Private Markets / Real Estate funds

  • Strong knowledge and interpretation of regulations related to investment risk and liquidity risk management, particularly AIFMD

  • Good knowledge of Private Markets / Real Estate industry

  • Good understanding of KRIs relevant to Private Markets / Real Estate funds

  • Strong communicator and report writing skills
