Job Description

We are seeking an Internal Audit Manager to join our client's investment management firm. This role can be based in wither their London or Bristol offices.

 

The Company

The company is a leading provider of wealth and investment management services to private clients, professional advisers, charities, corporates and institutions. Combined, they manage almost £9 billion of client assets from 13 offices across the UK, employing a diverse range of c.500 professionals.

The company is part on an AA-rated financial services group that was established in 1918. The Group provides a range of financial products and services to over 10 million clients globally. They have attained size, strength and reputation by providing a high quality, personalised service to clients, whatever their stage of life or financial ambitions.           

In order to facilitate business growth and to meet increasingly stringent regulatory requirements, the firm's Group Internal Audit function (based in Cape Town) is looking to expand its European auditing capabilities by recruiting an Internal Audit Manager based in their Bristol office. 

 

The Role

The firm is subject to compliance with prudential and financial conduct regulations; and as a Life Insurance group the scope of audit covers a wider range of processes (including Actuarial and Financial Reporting processes).

As a successful applicant, your role will involve the preparation and execution of the annual Internal Audit plan for the various companies in the UK and the Republic of Ireland; with a particular focus on control adequacy and control effectiveness reviews.

The role provides a great opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor who can work independently with a good understanding of IFRS, Solvency II and Market Conduct regulations to shape their role, initiate change and deliver best practice. The role also provides an opportunity to interact with senior stakeholders within the business.

You will be required to quickly build relationships with the business and external auditors, attend management meetings on behalf of the UK Head of Audit and assist with the preparation of Audit Committee reports.

 

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

  • Extensive audit and risk management experience (preferably Big 4 training) with relevant Audit and Risk qualifications.

  • Solid understanding of the UK’s Financial Services Regulations including the roles of the PRA and FCA.

  • Detailed knowledge of IFRS, Solvency II and Market Conduct regulations.

  • ACCA, ACA or CIA qualifications (preferred but not essential).

  • Candidates with knowledge and experience of IT audit are highly desirable.

 

Additional Information

Travel

The position does entail travelling within the UK and the Republic of Ireland as well as potentially to South Africa (and expect that on average 6 – 10 weeks in a year will be spent away from home).  It is also envisaged that the position may involve annual travelling to South Africa to attend Internal Audit events and training at their Head Offices in Cape Town.
