About The Role

To facilitate the successful implementation of the SMCR, focussing on all HR aspects of the regulations to ensure that policies, processes and practices are compliant and actively support a culture of good conduct and accountability


Key Responsibilities

  • Be the primary HR contributor at a number of regular project meetings, offering meaningful perspective in the discussions as well as suggesting alternative options and considering impacts of different proposed courses of action

  • Keep the Head of HR Services updated regularly and seek their input on key decisions. Ensure that discussions are timely and that decisions take account of company cultural considerations and firm’s global matrix

  • Take the lead in ensuring the delivery of HR-related actions arising across a number of different workstreams (Senior Managers and Reasonable Steps, Certification and Fitness/Propriety,

  • Conduct, Training, Communications, plus support for the HR Technology workstream), owning the delivery of some directly and liaising with colleagues as needed to ensure the successful delivery of others

  • Collaborate with stakeholders both within HR and other functions to ensure actions and decisions are in line with overall project principles and deliverables

  • Become completely familiar with relevant current HR processes with a view to being able to understand and contribute to the gap analysis between current state and

  • Contribute to data/system requirements relating to SMCR and work closely with the HRTI team to recommend and manage any changes, in addition to carry out User Acceptance Testing if required


Additional Responsibilities

  • Make proposals for addressing the gaps to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and be prepared to get “in the weeds” in delivering solutions

  • Work with the broader HR team to further embed a culture of good conduct and accountability across the business

  • Take the lead in training the broader HR team to ensure sufficient knowledge of the SMCR and what it means for the various roles within HR and for our partners in the business


Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience of SMCR would be a significant advantage; experience of other financial services regulations that have impacted Human Resources would also be very beneficial

  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment within which we operate

  • Background in Financial Services essential

  • Demonstrable experience of understanding, applying and adapting HR policies, processes and practices as they relate to the wider business

  • Experience of successfully collaborating with partners from across the business to deliver change (preferably in response to regulatory requirements)

  • Knowledge and understanding of the inter-relationship between policy and process and culture

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office packages including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Self motivated, enthusiastic, highly organised, comfortable providing support to a wide range of people with different working styles, able to work on own initiative


Education & Qualifications

  • Achieved good passes in Maths and English at GCSE level or equivalent

  • Educated to A Level standard or equivalent
