About The Role

This is a generalist HR Business Partner role, supporting one Division within the firm. The incumbent will ensure a high level of HR business partnering is provided across the Firm in line with the strategic goals of the Firm and its values.


Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities listed below are intended to be a broad but not exhaustive list.



  • Build trusted relationships with Partners, Directors and others

  • Provide a high level of business partnering in line with the strategic goals of the firm and its values

  • Take the lead and act as the subject expert in all HR matters

  • Coach and mentor HR Advisors

  • Manage key strategic projects and support strategic initiatives across the team

  • Consider new initiatives which could improve efficiencies within the team and wider firm

  • Supervise Advisors and Assistants to ensure all HR processes and paperwork are completed correctly



  • Lead on all aspects of resource planning with Heads of Division/Group including resourcing and recruitment methods and process, defining resource requirements and timelines, succession planning and promotions

  • Brief the Resourcing team/Advisors in relation to all recruitment needs.

  • Promote brand awareness including recruitment briefings and recruitment events

  • Conduct interviews with senior level recruits where appropriate

  • Manage interview feedback and negotiate offers consistent with the firm’s pay strategy for senior recruits


Employee Relations

  • Take the lead on complex employee relations activities

  • Provide guidance to HR Advisors where appropriate on operational ER issues such as absence management, grievance and disciplinary issues, performance management, maternity/paternity/shared parental leave


HR Procedures

  • Ensure MI pack forms part of Business Partnering approach to drive proactive performance management and headcount planning for the future

  • Input into the annual budgeting process for the Division

  • Lead the annual salary review process for the Division working with the Reward Manager as necessary

  • Provide input into Reward strategy

  • Drive the annual appraisal process for the Division

  • Attendance at all A Partner appraisals

  • Work with Reward Manager to ensure data on the Division is correct on an ongoing basis

  • Conduct annual appraisals for HR Advisors

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the HRIS


Personal Skills

  • CIPD Qualified or equivalent

  • Proven record of delivering a high level of business partnering to businesses

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Strong communication and influencing skills

  • Experience of supervising and mentoring others

  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative or as a team member

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Demonstrate strong employment law knowledge, commerciality and the ability to apply both in practice

  • Have the ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
