We are currently handling a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced PR professional to join a London based investment management firm as Head of PR.


As Head of PR, you will be responsible for building the company’s profile by managing the delivery of creative media relations programmes that will drive positive media coverage both in the traditional, online space and broadcast for both consumer and trade press.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the overarching goals of the firm to build on the existing strength of brand in the intermediated market and the direct brand, agreeing the strategies and priorities with the Heads of Private Client and Intermediary facing teams & Head of Marketing.

  • Drive media coverage, working with relevant external agencies, JAUS, the wider team of spokespeople, the personal finance journalist community and the trade press.

  • Ensure that the key messages delivered into the press are in sync with the company’s views presented in all other materials and distribution outlets.

  • Create the quarterly PR plan, establishing goals, implementing it with key spokespeople deployed and measuring results.

  • Facilitating and crafting the company wide responses on FCA policy and discussion papers and other industry policy initiatives for lobbying, position building and usage in press campaigns

  • Manage the building of ongoing journalist relationships between the firm and the personal finance journalist ( across print, digital and broadcast)

  • To source and originate investment personal finance columns for the press.

  • Build effective relationships and work productively with the following teams to successfully implement press

  • Campaigns:

    • o Channel Heads and key client facing spokespeople (SS, , VS)

    • Investment team

    • o Compliance

  • Build a strong effective relationship with the Campaign & Content and Social Media functions within Marketing to ensure that all are working to express and distribute the same messages to market.


Skills & Experience

  • Broad multimedia PR experience crafting media messages and campaigns to deliver tangible results.

  • Ability to explain the benefits of saving and investing to anyone in a clear and understandable way.

  • Professional writing skills for press releases and supporting communications.

  • Proven track record of building relationships with key journalists across digital, print and broadcast, with specific knowledge of the consumer personal finance press.

  • Experience of managing peers who work as company spokespeople but who also have demanding day jobs.

  • Exceptional organisational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with broad range of expertise.

  • Good level of analytical skills with high attention to detail.

  • Flexible and comfortable when plans change – a positive outlook to see changes as opportunities.

  • Creative and self-motivated but also works collaboratively. Ability to generate innovative ideas to engage individuals in  

  • their finances.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment – adaptable and reliable with a strong ‘can do’ attitude. Must have the ability to gain cooperation from other teams and senior staff



  • In-depth knowledge and proven track record of working in the Investment & Personal Finance industry.

  • Aware of the changing trends within personal finance and investment management.

  • Investment knowledge.

  • Personal finance knowledge and experience.

  • Highly experienced at dealing with the press and crafting a story or an idea to ‘sell ‘in

  • Highly client focussed and willing to work productively with a broad range of people of different experience levels.

  • The appetite to increase knowledge to enhance our efforts and help go forward and maximise its reach.



  • A marketing qualification would be a bonus but not essential.

  • English and Maths A-C grades as a minimum.


Additional Information

  • Reports to Head of Marketing

  • A flexible approach to working hours is required – there will be some days when work simply needs to be completed and occasional late night or weekend working will be required

  • Some travel to the Edinburgh office may occasionally be required

  • Working in a small team, this person has to have a ‘hands on’ approach and be willing to do a whole range of tasks.

  • The candidate will need to understand and subscribe to the company’s mission and tenets and in particular the TCF requirements
