About The Role

The post holder will have responsibility for developing and leading a sustainable business entity as a part of the company's larger group. The business proposition centres on building a consulting office providing regulatory advice to US based firms and also European and Asian regulatory advice to US based businesses seeking to operate in those jurisdictions.  In addition the post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering a strategic business plan which meets agreed profitability and other targets as well as establishing the company's brand in the US..  

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the strategic business plan, reporting on progress monthly to the company's Executive Committee

  • Work closely with the CEO and Team Heads ensure that the “Company's way of doing business” is adapted to the US market whilst retaining the core company values

  • Develop a commercially attractive product offering that includes projects and ongoing support

  • Identify, recruit and sustain a portfolio of clients to support specific income and business development targets. 

  • Develop strategic and/or commercial relationships with regulators, trade bodies and businesses

  • Establish a network  -clients, trade associations and regulatory bodies to build the company's brand

  • Communicate and promote the company brand including the promotion and delivery of marketing events such as client briefings, discussion round tables etc

  • Maintain an excellent level of technical knowledge to support appropriate engagements with clients

  • Lead and QA on the advice for clients that come under European and Asian regulatory frameworks for US businesses wanting to do business within these jurisdictions.

  • Keep up to date on new developments within the regulatory frameworks and identify the implications for clients and company service offerings

  • Produce and report on management information against delivery of the business plan and individual targets

  • Develop a recruitment strategy when required to ensure there is a locally based team of Consultants/Associates able to deliver the business plan

  • Coach and inform colleagues where appropriate to support US based clients.

 

Key Challenges

This is a highly visible role which will require the role holder to be able to deliver within challenging timescales. To be successful in this role the post holder will need to understand the company's core brand and values and be able to apply this in the US market. The person will need to have a proven track record in US and/ or European regulation and (ideally) of product/business development.  They should also be able to work with the Asia office where appropriate, should US based clients require information and advice re the Asian regulatory framework. They should have a real interest in wanting to create a new business in the regulatory consultancy field.  It will be necessary to interface regularly with the London office to ensure the company's business is growing cohesively.  The individual will need to be highly flexible as new information/learnings will emerge as the business develops that means targets and outcomes may change as and when required. There is a significant commercial element to the role and it will require the individual to constantly consider the commercial implications of decisions as well as deliver high quality work to clients to grow the company brand and reputation.  

 

Role Scope

The role is primarily focussed on developing the company's US office and a US based client portfolio.  In addition there may be some need to provide support and advice to existing UK clients either directly or supporting London based colleagues. 

 

Work Pattern

Full time, 5 days a week with occasional business trips to London office/possibly Singapore office.  Travel within US where appropriate.

  • Experience of and/or understanding of the European regulators and their frameworks and their applicability to US based clients.

Additional Information

 

Critical to the success of this role is someone who is a self- starter who can work as part of a team as well as independently and has the motivation to help grow a business both through developing new leads and delivering quality projects to clients.

This role is based in New York – in the initial phase it is anticipated the post holder will need to spend up to six months the London office.
