About The Role

Our high profile client has been through a period of unprecedented growth over and as such the Finance team has to evolve in order to support the business through continued growth.  The company has created centres of excellence and are building specialist knowledge in each finance discipline within the team.

The role will join the high profile Finance Business Partnering team, which consists of two senior resources currently. The financial analyst will be responsible for providing financial analysis and support to the team in business critical areas including projects, product/fund profitability, strategic plans, benchmarking and expense efficiency. In addition there will be diverse ad hoc requests from the ExCo and Group requiring financial analyst support.


Key Responsibilities


  • Support FBP Manager with analysis of project and contractor spend MI and accruals

  • Support deep dives into specific projects

  • Support proposition and project managers with preparation of financial elements of business cases


Profitability Analysis

  • Support the FBP Manager and FPA team to develop repeatable MI processes

  • Deep dives into specific items/exceptions

  • Support comparison of the analysis with other benchmarking data

  • Cost Centre Reporting  

  • Work closely with Financial Planning & Analysis team on cost centre pack production

  • Support Financial Planning & Analysis team with further development of the cost centre packs


Medium Term Plan

  • Support analysis of flows and bps trends

  • Support review of market flows and bps trends with proposition

  • Ensure new headcount data is fed into FPA team

  • Liaise with HR Consultant to ensure correct salaries, bonus and buyout assumptions

  • Work with FPA to prepare outputs for each ExCo member on their plan flows, revenues, costs and FTE

  • Support development MTP communication packs for other key stakeholders such as desk heads and distribution leads

  • Deep dives into specific items such as group recharges

  • Support data gathering for tracking and reporting of key strategic initiatives embedded in the MTP



  • Work with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to source data and prepare detailed BCG submission and supporting analysis

  • Prepare detailed analysis of BCG output

  • Gather additional 3rd party benchmarking data where available

  • Review industry reports on costs/operating models and summarise key trends to put BCG analysis in context

  • Support data preparation and reporting of initiatives to address identified benchmarking/productivity challenges


Operational Efficiency

  • Support production of operational efficiency management information and analysis


Ratings Agency Packs

  • Preparation of Finance Ratings Agency slides to support the presentations prepared by the Marketing team


Other – ad hoc analysis

  • Proactively support the business with other ad hoc financial analysis, egs. commercial financial support such as pitches/proposals, M&A, functional financial analysis, efficiency analysis



  • Responsible for owning the risks faced by their business area, managing the control framework  and implementing and embedding all elements of the Risk Management System (RMS)

  • Clearly understands the link between the Group Strategy and the Risk Strategy & Appetite Framework (RAF)

  • Deliver business plans and operates within risk appetite, ensuring risk based decisions are evidenced and taken at all times

  • Undertake stress test and scenario analysis to identify current and potential risks

  • Ensures Emerging risks are identified and communicated through to local Risk committee and Emerging Risk forum


Skills & Experience

  • Qualified/part-qualified accountant

  • Strong analytical experience including excellent Excel skills

  • Experience working within financial services/asset management industry preferable
