Our client, a high-profile firm specialising in investigative services is seeking to appoint a Director of Investigations, based out of their San Francisco offices.

They work to uncover critical facts clients need to make important decisions before relationships, during disputes, and after frauds, all from an employee-friendly work environment.


About The Role

The firm’s San Francisco office is seeking an experienced director-level investigator to assist in the management of clients and sophisticated fact-gathering assignments, and take on substantial team leadership duties. The ideal candidates will have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of research, investigation and due-diligence experience.   A candidate will present as a confident and self-assured team player, who is comfortable with working in new areas, and is able to exercise initiative in a very independent fashion.  Humor, creativity and strong work ethic are essential to the ability to succeed in this dynamic assignment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the casework for major corporate clients across a wide number of industries including Information Technology, Media and Communications, Motion Picture and Television, Finance, Private Equity and Consumer, among others.

  • Effectively communicates with clients regarding procedural and case processing issues, identify client solutions and understand current client activity.

  • Analyze and record all client specific processes/procedures.

  • Stay abreast of important developments in the law and issue spots with respect to future opportunities/issues.

  • Understand existing fee agreements, billing practices and budgeting of new case work.

  • Be aware of all client profile changes, paying close attention to business opportunities.

  • Assign, delegate, prioritize and review work flow of team members.

  • Participates in office-wide projects, including training, mentoring, recruiting, process improvement, and participates in employee satisfaction initiatives.


Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in a senior level capacity with similar research/investigative company

  • Expert knowledge of procedural requirements for various types of investigative processes

  • Knowledge of case management and billing systems

  • Experience corresponding with clients directly on case processing and other procedural matters

  • Experience handling high-touch client base with poise and confidence.

  • Ability to prioritize own work and team's work and take on multiple projects

  • Experience managing multiple direct reports

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational skills, including a strong facility with case management reporting analytics

  • Exercises excellent judgment

  • Effective team management and communication skill

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • BS or BA Degree from a reputable institution required, Masters’ degree a plus
