Job Description

This role is critical to the compliance and therefore long term success of the business.  The role has day to day responsibility for the monitoring and overall supervision of regulatory and card scheme compliance for the Group’s financial services activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day point of contact for Regulatory and card scheme Compliance, Risk and AML matters.

Assisting the VP Risk and Compliance to implement and maintain an effective Compliance Monitoring Plan

  • Provide support and direction for the practical implementation of financial services policy and procedures across the business

  • Interpret policy and procedure to provide input to technical and/or vendor requirements

  • Analysing chargeback trends on all card programmes issued by the company and cooperate with corporate clients to prevent fraud.

  • Assist partners and corporate clients on queries relating to potentially fraudulent transactions (e.g. verification calls with acquirers, issuers, payment providers).

  • Where required assisting with:

    • PEP & Sanction Determination

    • AML Investigations.

    • Suspicious Activity Reporting.

    • Monitoring of Card Scheme compliance requirements

    • Card Scheme reporting and monitoring.

    • Regulatory reporting and monitoring.


Skills & Experience

Professional Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in either Compliance, Risk, Fraud or AML management, gained in an EMI, payment and card scheme industry environment. Able to review large quantities of data and take quick decisions. They will have at least intermediate level of Microsoft Office knowledge.

  • The candidate is able to understand and work with all areas of the business, will have a very high level of discretion, loyalty to the company and outstanding analytical skills.


The role holder will work within a small, fast paced and challenging environment.  They must be able to work independently and determine personal and functional work plan, aligning to the strategic goals of the business.  They must be comfortable working with figures, analysing transactions, familiar with cross-border businesses, highly accurate, demonstrate good networking skills and industry contacts.


Key Competencies

  • Fully implemented standard operating procedures across the financial services business, ensuring they align to the Company’s policies.

  • Timely, accurate and consistent handling of cases escalated to Compliance by the business (e.g. customer and transaction reviews).

  • Ensure activities identified on the compliance monitoring plan are kept up to date and planned in to the day to day activities.

  • Compliance with Mastercard rules and guidelines, including the submission of programme approval applications, waivers and oversight of Mastercard Connect users.

  • Alignment of personal priorities and deadlines to those of the business

  • Information, analysis and reporting proactively provided to the VP Risk and Compliance and indirectly, to the Board.

  • Commercialism demonstrated in decision making and application of policy

  • Staff are fully training in company policies as appropriate to individual roles and seniority
