About The Role

Our mission leads us to invest in places that present significant business integrity risks, such as potential exposure to fraud, corruption, money laundering and international sanction regimes. We take all reasonable measures to mitigate these risks. We conduct a thorough business integrity due diligence process prior to investment, and thereafter monitor the practices of all our investees.

The Business Integrity and Compliance team plays an important role in reinforcing the company’s reputation as a responsible investor, ensuring that the company meets its regulatory commitments with respect to the FCA, having systems and controls in place to counter the risk that the company might be used to further financial crime, and working to enhance private sector standards in financial crime management in our target geographies.

The Business Integrity Executive will support the c investment operations through the identification, assessment and mitigation of integrity risks in the pipeline and portfolio stages of company investments. As part of this work, the Executive will also engage with investment clients to strengthen their capacity to mitigate integrity risks in their operations. This work promotes the company’s compliance withapplicable UK and global financial crime regulatory obligations as well as commitment to invest responsibly and demonstrate to international investors that business integrity risks can be managed. In parallel, the Executive will promote the importance of business integrity both within and outside of the company.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on integrity due diligence for individual investments, providing written and oral analysis of the business integrity risks to investment teams and senior management;

  • Undertake business integrity related research and due diligence for pipeline investments and engage with external consultants where required;
    Monitor for integrity issues in specific parts of the portfolio, managing relationships with portfolio companies or funds;

  • Provide integrity focused capacity building to investment clients, such as advice and support;

  • Foster strong relationships with fund, debt and equity investment teams, as well as other operational teams;

  • Develop tools in anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and/or counter terrorist-financing, sanctions compliance and anti-fraud to help improve business integrity outcomes at portfolio companies and funds;

  • Support the strengthening of internal business integrity processes for assessing the risks around investments and the portfolio;

  • Identify, communicate and promote best practices in dealing with Business Integrity issues, both internally and externally, such as through training and awareness sessions

  • Provide mentoring and support to junior team members


Skills & Experience


  • Over 5 years’ experience in identifying, assessing and addressing financial crime issues preferably within private equity or investment banking, and involving clients in emerging markets, ideally in the company’s target geographies in Africa and/or South Asia and across a wide range of sectors e.g. infrastructure, manufacturing, financial institutions.

  • Experience in conducting financial crime focused research / due diligence, both remotely and onsite, including analysis of financial records;

  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience with, all aspects of the UK regulatory requirements on anti-money laundering and counter terrorist financing (AML/CFT), and/or anti-corruption;

  • Experience in the development and delivery of financial crime prevention solutions to a wide range of clients;

  • University degree and preferably a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline;
    Interest in developing countries and poverty reduction;


Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of tools and techniques in one or more of anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, counter terrorist financing, sanctions, and fraud prevention;

  • Existing thematic knowledge of integrity issues in target geographies would be beneficial;

  • Sound research and analytical skills;

  • Good report writing ability.



  • Experience in at least one or more of the following:

    • managing fraud and/or sanctions issues

    • drafting and implementing financial crime compliance policies and procedures

  • Conducting and managing investigations of financial crime matters such as onboarding diligence, ongoing monitoring and/or investigations.

  • Developing anti-corruption solutions and/or application of adequate procedures in line with compliance with the UK Bribery Act

  • Detailed knowledge of and experience with international legislation or best practice standards:

    • to address money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, and/or corruption; and/or, on corporate governance.

  • Competency in one or more languages relevant to target geographies would also be an advantage.
