Job Description

Our client, a high-profile firm specialising in risk and reputation solutions is looking to hire a Business Development Director. You will report to the SVP of Sales and will focus on the company’s reputation based products.


Ideal candidates will come from one of the following backgrounds:

  • Reputation / Economic / Risk research firm – that provides similar intelligence / services to large corporates

  • Large Public Relations / Public Affairs / Corporate Communication agencies focused on large corporates


The reputation space will be something you understand well, and are currently navigating daily in your business development efforts. You will have a core understanding of the pains the personas below will be looking to solve related to their reputation based challenges / opportunities. These personas will be in Fortune 2000 companies across all business sectors. The Business Development Directors will be responsible for selling the company’s platform and related services to personas such as:


  • Heads of Corporate Affairs and Communications

  • Heads of Sustainability

  • Heads of Corporate Social Responsibility

  • Heads of Brand Management

  • Heads of Public Relations

  • Heads of Reputational Risk

  • C-Level Executives


Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive quarterly and annual business development opportunities to achieve / exceed quarterly / annual targets via new client accounts / logos

  • Identify key decision makers, develop strategic relationships, collaborate and quickly build relationships with key stakeholders (internal resources and external network) to prioritize and penetrate key accounts to drive new business. Consult with C-level executives to understand business needs and develop an effective, enterprise-wide strategy utilising company solutions

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the company’s Reputation Risk Intelligence product portfolio

  • Understand the opportunities, challenges, day-to-day experience and needs of senior reputation leaders, corporate communications, corporate affairs, citizenship/sustainability leaders and brand strategy professionals

  • Have a strong ability to formulate and articulate ROI and the positive financial impact of company solutions to customers

  • Work closely with Reputation Risk customers and Account Management and Customer Success team to ensure an excellent customer experience

  • Consistently achieve and maintain KPI based activities as determined by Business Development leadership, including pipeline management

  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly think on your feet

  • Be proficient in time management, account planning and territory management

  • Compliance in utilising internal sales enablement tools and management processes

  • Partner with Product and Technology teams, as applicable, to influence and inform the Reputation Risk product roadmap based on industry expertise, customer and prospect feedback


Skills & Experience

  • 3 to 5 years experience a Reputation based Sales / Account Management focus on selling and managing risk management services to high value accounts (i.e. big corporate logos)

  • Proven success record in selling to Heads of and C-Suite executives

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communications skills

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast paced, growth environment

  • Experience within a technology firm a plus, but not required

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and to work simultaneously on several projects

  • High level of personal accountability and integrity

  • Excellent analytical and numerate skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong personal drive, problem solver, team player, good humoured and a nice person 

  • Ability to drive processes forward when faced with ambiguity

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
