We are looking to hear from Audit professionals for an Edinburgh based managerial role within a top-tier investment management firm.


About The Role

The primary role is to oversee compliance pre and post trade in accordance with the UCITS regulations/ ESMA guidelines and fund-specific investment restrictions as contained in the prospectus or investment management agreement. Ensure adequate controls are in place to meet regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities

As the Data Analytics & Technology Manager in Group Internal Audit (GIA) you will lead a team of data scientists, data analysts and auditors to provide advanced analytics and reporting solutions across GIA. You will drive the strategic development of a world class capability within GIA across data analytics, technology, reporting and continuous assurance. In addition, in support of specific audits across the business you will review controls, processes and structures to identify risks and offer innovative insight and solutions to mitigate those risks to our business.

You will be:

  • Responsible for developing GIA’s strategic programme of technology enablement, data analytic, reporting and continuous assurance.

  • Responsible for leading GIA’s relationship with systems and suppliers.

  • Responsible for Data Analytics and Data Management input to the scoping, planning & conduct of all audits and of data related audits in particular.

  • Responsible for GIA’s input, engagement & influence of wider corporate data strategies and capabilities – collaborating on shared capabilities, sharing expertise and insight and building an awareness of future assurance needs in system and solution design.

  • Performance manage aligned staff, ensuring quality conversations are held to set objectives and provide honest feedback to drive performance and develop talent.

  • In conjunction with Heads of Audit, direct, develop, coach and motivate wider team members to enable their professional and career development.

  • Responsible for role modelling Group Internal Audit’s vision, culture, strategy and plan and bringing them to life for both GIA & business stakeholders.

  • Responsible for the design and delivery of high quality MI within GIA on our workload, tasks and performance.

  • Champion and support strategic change by embracing initiatives and leading specific workstreams within GIA’s Transformation programme.

  •  Maintain independence and resilience under challenge communicating succinctly and persuasively resolving issues drawing on knowledge, expertise and new innovative ideas to deliver results.

  • Responsible for GIA's compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines, legislation and procedures.

  • Maintain GIA’s independence and confidentiality.


Skills & Experience

  • Experience of leading and delivering advanced capability in data analytics, data management, reporting and visualisation. 

  • Credentials in data and analytics working within large organisations and an ability to demonstrate knowledge and insight into data management

  • Proven technical and non-technical project management skills and experience

  • Proven relationship management skills, with a track record of engaging and influencing key stakeholders

  • Experience of leading, managing and developing skilled individuals and teams

  • An understanding of risk management, processes and controls within an asset management or wider financial services context

  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in 1:1 and group environment

  • Educated to degree level with a relevant professional qualification or experience (e.g. data science, data management, data governance, advanced analytics and visualisation)
