Job Description

We are seeking an Assistant Manager of Monitoring Trustee Services to join our client's investment management, financial services and advisory firm in London.

About The Role                                                                                                 

Based in the heart of London, the firm provides a full range of services including: business advisory, banking, corporate finance, corporate recovery, corporate tax, forensic services and litigation support monitoring trustee services, investment management, pensions and financial planning and advice on personal tax and trusts. 

The team also offers forensic accounting and forensic technology services on a wide range of contentious matters including dispute resolution, fraud and bribery investigations, personal injury and insurance claims, both in the UK and internationally.  The team also provides Monitoring Trustee services where they act as Monitoring Trustee on behalf of competition regulators to monitor parties’ compliance with structural or behavioural remedies.           

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting the senior team on Monitoring Trustee assignments as well as undertaking business development tasks for the Monitoring Trustee team. 

  • Assisting on  Monitoring Trustee assignments

  • Analysis of information received on the parties’ compliance with the remedies

  • Attending meetings together with senior members of the team

  • Report writing

  • Liaising with clients and chasing information

  • Managing stream of work on client engagements including client set up 

  • Business Development

  • BD concentrated on:

    • Networking with lawyers and regulators

    • Relationship management

    • Attending marketing events

 

Key Competencies

  • Analytical thinking: at must be able to identify key issues in a case

  • Detail oriented: ability to look at a large quantity of financial and non-financial information and identify inconsistencies.

  • Written communication: the firm's work product is typically a written report – these have to be of the highest standards – not only does the content need to be technically correct but it has to be presented clearly

  • Commercial awareness: all Monitoring Trustee assignments require commercial awareness as they are all about commercial issues

  • Teamwork: The team is diverse with different technical skills – teamwork is essential to this role

  • Project management: assisting in managing the expectations of the competition regulators and those of the client also 

  • Candidate Profile 

 

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • ACA qualified or equivalent preferred 

  • Experience of working with competition regulators or other regulators

  • Past experience in audit, restructuring, transactions, M&A or corporate finance experience is also desirable

  • The analytical skills required for Monitoring Trustee assignments

  • Report writing and presentation skills

  • Assignment and client management skills

  • Full fluency in one of these languages is highly desirable: German, Chinese or French.
