Head of Forensic Accounting (ESG)
When HSBC decided to pioneer a brand new Forensic Accounting function for their Global Markets team to analyse ESG factors, Lawson Chase were appointed exclusive search partner.
The challenge
HSBC contacted Lawson Chase as their Global Markets division had envisioned a bold ambition to hire a Head of Forensic Accounting Research (ESG) and they’d heard we were the go-to search firm in this area. This position had never been hired previously by the bank. The idea was to hire a senior figure in Forensic Accounting for a brand new role, the focus being to support the equity & fixed income research teams to identify irregularities, potential fraud and ‘bad apples’ within thousands of major companies through analysing their financial statements.
The solution
HSBC appointed Lawson Chase as exclusive, managing agents for their search. We worked closely with them to define the requirements and rapidly established with them that their preferred hire would be a senior Forensic Accounting professional who had a significant tenure within one of the Big Four accounting firms. Our preferred candidate brought 18 years of Big 4 experience to the table, having worked at both Deloitte and PwC.
